About BrickWatchlist

A watchlist for LEGO sets, with the source for every number.

BrickWatchlist is an independent site for adult LEGO fans in the US. It tracks what arrives in each new wave, what lego.com marks as retiring, and which sets give you the most for a set budget.

How we check a set

  1. Start from lego.com

Set number, name, piece count, age mark, US list price and release date come from the set's own lego.com product page or the lego.com category it appears in, read on the day we write. LEGO newsroom posts back up launch dates and Insiders early access.

  2. Add an independent check

Brickset set pages and established LEGO news sites are used to cross-check set data. Anything that only a third party says, such as an expected retirement date, is labelled as theirs.

  3. Write down the date

LEGO prices change and lego.com does not publish retirement dates. Every price and every "Retiring soon" status in an article carries the day we checked it. We never write "currently costs".

  4. Keep a source file

Each article has a source table: one row per fact, with the URL, a short verbatim quote and the access date. A fact without a row is cut before publishing.

  5. Quote builders, never invent them

Opinions from other builders are quoted word for word from public posts (mostly Reddit) and linked. We do not claim to have built, bought or displayed a set unless a linked source says so.

What we cover

  • New set waves: every set in the January, March, June, August and October-November drops
  • Retiring soon: sets flagged on lego.com, by theme, with the date checked
  • Best sets by budget and by reader: under $50, $100 and $500, sets for adults, display sets
  • Theme hubs: Star Wars, Icons, Technic, Ideas, Botanicals and more
  • Set comparisons: pieces, price per piece and size, side by side

What we leave out

  • Resale prices, investment returns or "will it go up" predictions
  • Paid placements or sponsored reviews
  • Leaks and rumoured sets without an official source

Price history and investment data are already covered in depth by Brickset and BrickEconomy.

Who writes it

Articles carry one byline, BrickWatchlist Editorial. There are no invented reviewers or personas on this site. The BrickWatchlist desk. Every article is built from a source file: lego.com product pages, LEGO newsroom announcements, Brickset set data and dated prices, each linked in the article.

BrickWatchlist fact-check: Before publishing, each fact in a BrickWatchlist article is matched to a linked source and the quote is checked on the live source page. Each article ends with a "How we checked this" box that shows the number of sources and the day of the last full check.

Independence

BrickWatchlist is an independent fan site. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the LEGO Group. LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group. Official product images are credited to the LEGO Group under each image.

The site carries no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored content today. If that changes, links will be labelled and this page will say how they work.
