Overview
BrickWatchlist publishes articles about LEGO sets for adults: new waves, sets marked “Retiring soon” on lego.com and the best sets by budget. This page explains what happens to your data when you read the site. Short version: there are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter, no ads and no affiliate links, and we never ask who you are.
What we collect
Analytics. No analytics tool is switched on right now, so there is no cookie banner. If we add one (we plan to use Google Analytics 4), it will load only after you click Accept on a cookie banner, with advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google signals off, and this page will be updated first.
Things saved in your browser. Your theme choice (light or dark), the articles you save, the articles you have opened, checklist ticks and your cookie banner choice are stored in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device and we never see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
“Was this helpful?” votes. Guide articles can show a helpful / not helpful button. We store the vote count per article. To stop repeat votes, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for about an hour, then it expires. We cannot turn the hash back into your IP address.
Server logs. Like every website, our web server and our network provider (Cloudflare) see your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for when you load a page. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure.
Email. If you email us at admin@brickwatchlist.com, we keep your message and address only to reply. We never add you to a list or share your address.
Ads and affiliate links
BrickWatchlist shows no ads and has no affiliate links, so no ad network or shop tracks you here. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before anything goes live, ads will only load with your consent, and affiliate links will be labelled. See our independence note.
Embedded Reddit posts and outside links
Most articles embed one or more Reddit posts or comments so you can read what other builders said in context. The embed is loaded from Reddit when you scroll near it, and Reddit may set its own cookies or read your IP address, as described in Reddit's privacy policy. We do not receive any data from these embeds.
Links to lego.com, Brickset, LEGO news sites and Reddit take you to sites with their own privacy policies, which we don't control.
Where the site runs
The site runs on a server we rent from OVHcloud in Canada, behind Cloudflare. We don't sell anything on the site, so we hold no payment details, and we don't sell or share reader data with anyone.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you (in most cases there is none beyond an email you sent us), ask us to delete it, or object to its use. Email admin@brickwatchlist.com and we'll reply as soon as we can. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), the law may give you further rights, and we will honour them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, for example by switching on analytics, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
