LEGO Insiders Points Value: 650 Points = $5, 2,500 = $15

The 6.5 printed on lego.com is the trap in LEGO Insiders points value: it is what you earn per dollar, not what a point is worth. In the US, 650 points take $5 off, so 100 points come to about 77 cents and a 2,500-point balance buys $15 off today, with 550 points waiting for the next $5. The decision is whether to spend in $5 steps now or save for a double points week, when the same $100 earns twice the points.
TL;DR: Points are a 5% rebate in $5 steps; double points make it 10%. 650 points = $5 in the US, and all 18 currencies that appear in both lego.com tables work out to the same 5%. The October event covers 10/13 to 10/19. On Oct 13, 487 of the 490 sets in our catalog with a points figure showed it doubled; three did not.
Checked: lego.com's three Insiders help pages, the Insiders terms and the offers page, read on Oct 14 and again on Oct 16, 2026. How we checked is at the end.
LEGO Insiders points value: the quick answer
One point is worth about 0.77 cents in the US. lego.com's redeem table prices a discount at 650 points for $5.00, and members earn 6.5 points per dollar, so $100 of spending earns one $5 discount. Double points halve that: $50 earns the same 650. For your own balance or order total, run our Insiders points calculator.
Key Takeaways
- 650 points = $5 in the US; 100 points are about 77 cents, by our arithmetic.
- 6.5 points per $1 spent at the normal rate; 13 per $1 during double points.
- 5% back in all 18 currencies that appear in both lego.com tables; 10% during double points.
- 2,500 points = $15 usable, 550 left over; 5,000 points = $35, 450 left over.
- 18 months without earning or redeeming, and points expire.
- No points on US sales tax, delivery charges or gift cards you buy.
Overview: what lego.com says points are worth
lego.com never prints a cents-per-point figure. It publishes two tables on two help pages. One lists the points you earn for one unit of each currency ("1 US Dollar 6.5 points"). The other lists the points needed for one discount and that discount's value ("USD (United States) 650 $5.00"). The value of a point is the second table divided out.
The rates look different country to country. The return does not.
| Store currency | Points per 1 unit spent | Points for one discount | Discount | Back in discounts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US dollar | 6.5 | 650 | $5.00 | 5% |
| British pound | 8 | 800 | £5.00 | 5% |
| Euro | 7.5 | 750 | €5.00 | 5% |
| Canadian dollar | 5 | 500 | $5.00 | 5% |
| Australian dollar | 4.5 | 675 | $7.50 | 5% |
Rates: lego.com help pages, checked Oct 14 and Oct 16. The last column is our arithmetic: points per unit x discount value / points for one discount.
Desk note: We ran that formula on all 18 currencies that appear in both lego.com tables on Oct 14, from the Czech koruna (0.30 points per koruna, 750 points for 125 CZK) to the Korean won. Every one came out at exactly 5%. Whatever your store, every 100 you spend comes back as 5 in discounts.
Points can also buy rewards instead of discounts. lego.com's rewards and savings help page says you can redeem "for things like LEGO sets, posters, keychains and other rewards", up to three rewards per order. The Insiders Weekend page adds that "your points will go even further when you spend them on other rewards". We could not check that claim: the Rewards Center blocked our headless browser when we tried on Oct 11, so its point prices are not in this guide.

LEGO Insiders points value by balance: 100 to 10,000 points
This is the table the search box keeps asking for. The catch is in the middle column: a balance only turns into money in 650-point blocks, because lego.com lists one US discount size.
| Your points | $5 discounts you can use now | Off your order | Left over | Value at 650 = $5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 0 | $0 | 100 | $0.77 |
| 650 | 1 | $5 | 0 | $5.00 |
| 1,000 | 1 | $5 | 350 | $7.69 |
| 2,500 | 3 | $15 | 550 | $19.23 |
| 5,000 | 7 | $35 | 450 | $38.46 |
| 10,000 | 15 | $75 | 250 | $76.92 |
Our arithmetic from lego.com's US rate (650 points for a $5.00 discount), same check.
So "what are 2,500 points worth" has two honest answers: $15 at checkout today, or $19.23 if you count the 550 leftover points at the same rate. They only become money once another 100 points arrive. A poster on r/lego hit the same wall in May 2024: "Legos website said 6.5 but I don't think that's accurate or I'm just doing math wrong I have 1120 total". The 6.5 was right; it just isn't a value. By our arithmetic 1,120 points was one $5 discount with 470 points left.
Our Insiders points calculator does the same sums for any balance and any spend, at 1x or 2x.
Step-by-Step: how to spend Insiders points at checkout
lego.com's rewards and savings help page describes the online flow. Points for discounts are taken at checkout, not before.
1. Log in and check your balance. lego.com shows your balance at the top of the screen when you are logged in, per its points help page. You need 650 for the first US discount.
2. Fill your bag first. The page says to "Click My Bag once you’re ready to check out". The Use Points option only appears with enough points: "You’ll only see the Use Points option if you have enough points."
3. Pick how many points to use. lego.com lets you select the points to put toward the order. Spend them in 650-point blocks; anything under 650 stays in your balance.
4. Add any reward codes. Physical rewards from the Rewards Center can ride on the same order, up to three per order and one reward code per order.
5. Click Checkout Securely. Points for a discount come off your balance only once you've finished checking out. Paying with PayPal works the same way, with PayPal chosen later in checkout.
6. Expect the points from this order later. You earn on what you paid after the discount, not on the full price. In a LEGO Store they post immediately; online, lego.com's pages disagree on the timing (see Tips).
Double points: what changes when lego.com runs them
Double points change the earn rate, not the value of a point. During the October event lego.com's offers page said "Members earn double points between 10/13-10/19", and its terms said the 2x offer "is valid on LEGO Insiders purchases from 10/13/2026 to 10/19/2026." At 13 points per dollar, the rebate goes from 5% to 10%, by our arithmetic.
Take a $180 order, the threshold for that week's gift. At the normal rate it earns 1,170 points: one $5 discount and change. Doubled, it earns 2,340 points, which is three $5 discounts ($15) with 390 left, or $18.00 at the full 650-for-$5 rate. The gift itself changed mid-week. Through Oct 15 it was 40909 Restaurants of the World: Italy, for Insiders orders only by the Oct 14 terms. On Oct 16 lego.com swapped in 40907 Restaurants of the World: Mexico, valid on orders "online at LEGO.com" from Oct 16 to Oct 19 "while supplies last", one per household, valued at $19.99. The Mexico terms name no membership. Each read is in our offers log.

Sale prices stack with double points, because points follow what you pay. 10345 Flower Arrangement sold for $65.99 against a $109.99 list price in our Oct 13 catalog read, and its tile showed 858 points: $65.99 x 13, rounded. The sets on sale page lists every discounted set with its sale price and price per piece, and /sale?show=retiring keeps only the ones with the Retiring soon badge.
Desk note: Our Oct 13 catalog read caught the double points live. Of the 490 sets that showed a points figure, 487 showed exactly price x 13, rounded. Three showed the normal 6.5: 40858 SpongeBob SquarePants Figure, 60465 Emergency Air Ambulance Airplane and 76340 Marvel Advent Calendar 2026. lego.com's terms speak of "LEGO Insiders purchases", so check the tile before you count on 2x.
Image: The LEGO Group (lego.com)
One line in the same terms deserves a slow read: the 2x offer "cannot be combined with any other LEGO Insiders offer, discount or voucher." lego.com does not say whether a points discount counts. We have not placed an order to find out.
Double points dates: lego.com versus fan-site records
LEGO publishes no calendar. Its help page says only: "Sometimes we even offer double points on purchases! When we do, you’ll hear all about it in our Insiders newsletter and on LEGO.com." So every list of past events is a fan-site record.
The most complete one is Brick Fanatics' double points page ("Last updated: Oct 11, 2026"). Its table has 24 events: 12 in 2025 and 12 in 2026. Most cover selected themes, such as Batman Day or May the 4th. Whole-store events are fewer: five rows in 2025 (February, June, October, Insiders Weekend in November, December) and two so far in 2026 (Jan 29 to Feb 2, June 19 to 29). The page sums it up as "Generally speaking, site-wide double points events take place in January/February, June, October and December."
Two things to know before you plan around it. The 2026 table includes "Apr 20 to 31, 2026", a date April does not have. And the Oct 13 to 19 event sits in the page's text but not yet in its table. Fan sites also split on the scope of the October event: Jay's Brick Blog said "2x Insider Points on all purchases", while The Brick Fan wrote that LEGO's notice "doesn’t say if it’s a general purchase or on select sets". Our catalog read above is the closest thing to an answer: nearly all of it.
The next dates lego.com has published are shopping events, not points events. Insiders Weekend is November 21 and 22; its page still read "Coming Soon!" on Oct 16 and promises members "at least 5% back". Black Friday runs "from Black Friday on 11/27 to Cyber Monday on 11/30". Neither page had posted its deals that day.
Tips: getting the most out of a points balance
- Points expire after 18 months of quiet. The Insiders terms say "All Points will expire after 18 months of Loyalty program inactivity", where activity means earning or redeeming. One small order resets the clock, and LEGO says it sends reminders 60 and 30 days ahead.
- Tax and shipping earn nothing. In the US and Canada, the terms say taxes "are therefore excluded from Points earnings", and delivery charges are excluded everywhere.
- Gift cards: pay with them, don't buy them for points. lego.com says you can't earn or redeem points when buying LEGO Gift Cards, but "You’ll earn points when you pay with them".
- LEGO Certified Stores don't count. Points work on lego.com, in official LEGO Stores and at participating partners only.
- Points are yours alone. "You can’t share points or transfer them to someone else", per lego.com, and doing so can close the account.
- Two pages, two timings. The points help page says points arrive "within 24-48 hours" of a purchase; the rules page says online orders earn "once your order has shipped". The double points terms say within 24 hours of shipping. Budget for the slow one.
- Compare against a real discount. A 2024 r/lego poster worked out the rule of thumb on a double points weekend: "So if I see a set on sale for more than 10% off somewhere else, it's better to buy it from that place and not Lego." By our arithmetic that holds: 10% back in future discounts is worth less than 10% off today.
Our take
Spend points in $5 blocks as they arrive; save your buying, not your points, for double points weeks. A point is a fixed 0.77 cents in the US, so holding a balance earns nothing, and 18 quiet months wipe it. What does move is the earn rate: 13 points per dollar during the October event, 10% back instead of 5%.
Buy on lego.com during double points if the set is not cheaper by more than 10% elsewhere. Skip or wait if another shop takes more than 10% off today, or the set's tile shows the normal points.
What we don't know yet: whether Insiders Weekend (Nov 21-22) brings double points, and whether a points discount voids the 2x offer. On our watchlist: we re-read lego.com's offers page each week through Black Friday and log every change on /offers.
This take uses only the lego.com pages and sources cited above, checked Oct 14 and Oct 16.
How we checked this
On Oct 14, 2026 we opened lego.com's three Insiders help pages (points per currency, redeeming, earning and spending), the rewards and savings help page, the LEGO Insiders terms, the offers page with its terms, the Insiders Weekend page and the Black Friday page in a desktop browser, and copied the tables and sentences above from those pages. On Oct 16 we read all of them again: the rate tables and quoted sentences were unchanged, and the offers page showed the new 40907 gift. The double points and gift terms of Oct 13 come from our earlier read of the offers page. The catalog figures come from our Oct 13 read of lego.com's category pages (553 products). Cents per point, the balance table and every percentage are our arithmetic. Fan-site dates are labelled as such and were not checked against LEGO, because LEGO does not publish its past events. The Reddit quotes were copied from the posts.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the LEGO Insiders points value in the US? 650 points take $5 off a lego.com or LEGO Store order, so a point is worth about 0.77 cents and 100 points about 77 cents, by our arithmetic from lego.com's help pages. US members earn 6.5 points per dollar spent, which comes to 5% back in discounts.
How much money are 2,500 LEGO Insiders points worth? In the US, 2,500 points cover three $5 discounts, so $15 off at checkout, with 550 points left toward the next $5. At lego.com's rate of 650 points for $5 the whole balance equals about $19.23, but discounts come in 650-point steps, so $15 is what you can use today.
What are 100 LEGO Insiders points worth? About 77 cents at lego.com's US rate, but 100 points cannot be spent as a discount on their own. The first $5 discount needs 650 points, which takes about $100 of spending at the normal rate of 6.5 points per dollar, or about $50 during a double points event.
Do LEGO Insiders points expire? Yes. The LEGO Insiders terms say points expire after 18 months without earning or redeeming any. Any purchase or redemption resets the clock, so one small order a year keeps a balance alive. LEGO says it emails reminders at least 60 days and 30 days before the points would expire.
When is the next LEGO double points event? LEGO publishes no schedule; its help page says it sometimes runs double points and announces them in the Insiders newsletter and on lego.com. The October 2026 event runs from 10/13 to 10/19. Insiders Weekend is dated November 21-22, but lego.com had not listed its offers on October 16.
Do you earn LEGO Insiders points on tax and shipping? No. The LEGO Insiders terms exclude delivery charges, and in the US and Canada they exclude sales tax, which sits outside the purchase price. When you use a points discount, you earn points on the amount you actually paid after the discount, not on the full price of the order.
