LEGO City sets retiring 2026 make up one of the longest lists on lego.com's Retiring soon page. On October 17, 2026, 25 City sets carried the badge, from four $9.99 sets to a remote-controlled Arctic train at $209.99, and six of them could no longer be ordered. Most are kids' sets, but the list also holds the sets adult City fans pick up: the train, the F1 trucks, the streetcar and the City Tower.

TL;DR: 25 LEGO City sets had lego.com's Retiring soon badge on October 17, 2026, worth $1,403.75 together. 11 were Available now, eight on back order or a later ship date, and six Sold out or temporarily out of stock, including 60473 The City Tower and 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station. The 60470 train ($209.99) was on a 60-day back order. LEGO gives no dates; Brick Fanatics expects most to go on December 31, 2026.

PATCH: Updated Oct 17: 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station read Sold out again. Its badge is still on, but it left the Retiring soon page one day after it came back. 60484 Rides Gaming Race Car and 60491 Motorcycle Transporter moved from Available now to Will ship by October 31. That leaves 19 of the 25 to order, $958.81 at list price.

LEGO City sets retiring 2026: the quick answer

Twenty-five City sets have the badge, and 19 of them could still be ordered on lego.com on October 17. The ones worth deciding on first are 60470 Explorers' Arctic Polar Express Train, which was already on back order, and the two F1 trucks. lego.com's Retiring soon page gives no dates, and none of the product pages we opened showed one; a fan-site list dates 23 of the 25 to December 31, 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • 25 badged City sets, $1,403.75 at list price, 12,719 pieces together.
  • The train is on back order. 60470 ($209.99, 1,517 pieces) read Will ship in 60 days.
  • The City Tower is Sold out but still badged: 60473, $209.99, 1,941 pieces. On October 17, 60423, 60407, 60465 and 60464 were Sold out too, and 60495 was temporarily out of stock.
  • The streetcar sold out again. 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station read Sold out on October 15, Available now on October 16 and Sold out on October 17.
  • Three F1 sets have the badge: 60445 ($99.99), 60493 ($44.99) and 60464 ($19.99, $15.99 on sale but Sold out on October 16 and 17).
  • A fan-site date has already passed. 60440 Yellow Delivery Truck was dated July 31, 2026 and is still Available now.

Overview: the 25 City sets with the badge

lego.com adds a Retiring soon badge to a set's page and lists it on the Retiring soon page, which held 250 products on October 17. We read all 11 pages from the page data, every product included, and found 19 City sets, down from 24 in our October 10 and October 11 reads. The other six had dropped off that page but still carried the badge on their own product pages, where they read Sold out or Temporarily out of stock, so they are in the table.

Stock is as of October 17; cents per piece is our arithmetic on list price. The 19 you could order come to $958.81 at list price. The best value per piece is 60407 Red Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus at 7.8 cents, but it had sold out; among the sets you could order, 60493 F1 Display Truck with Audi F1 Race Car is lowest at 8.9 cents.

The train: 60470 Explorers' Arctic Polar Express Train

60470 shares the top price on the list with The City Tower, and it is the badged City set for train fans. Its page says you can "operate the model train with the remote control or a smart device equipped with the LEGO® Powered Up app", and that driving it through the tunnel will "activate the rockfall function". It comes with Johnny Thunder, five explorer minifigures and two Arctic foxes. On October 15 it read $209.99, Will ship in 60 days, Backorder, limit 5, as it did on October 11.

On lego.com it has 4.8 stars from 14 reviews. ElderJumpyBed100 (August 7, 2025) wrote that "the rockfall feature works fantastic" and called it "a good set with a reasonable price point for a set containing electronic components and endless play opportunities." Sofia (December 25, 2025) found it "really fun to build" but added: "The only thing is the price, which I think is a little bit too much."

On the Eurobricks train forum, a member asking for 2026 train suggestions got this reply from Dav1d on September 27:

"All the 2026 trains come without a motor or circle of track. The previous trains 60337 Express Passenger Train, 60470 Explorer train and 60509 Police Heist all have a motor"

That is one forum member's summary, and a later reply in the same thread named a motorised City Express Train. Even so, if you want a remote-controlled City train, 60470 is the one with the badge.

The F1 sets and the other big LEGO City sets retiring in 2026

60445 F1 Truck with RB20 & AMR24 F1 Cars ($99.99, 1,086 pieces) is a transporter with "a double vehicle bay with fully opening side panels" and a "toy F1® simulator room", plus "2 driver and 3 crew minifigures, plus a winner's trophy." It has 4.9 stars from 39 reviews; RoboticEagle082 wrote that "the cars fit perfectly inside the trailer." The smaller 60493 F1 Display Truck with Audi F1 Race Car ($44.99) and 60464 F1 Williams Racing & Haas F1 Race Cars ($19.99, $15.99 on sale but Sold out on October 16 and 17) carry the badge too. The three F1 sets cost $164.97 together at list price.

60471 Arctic Explorer Science Lab Truck ($119.99) was Available now on October 16 and 17. 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station ($89.99, 811 pieces) read Available now on October 11, Sold out on October 15, Available now again on October 16 and Sold out again on October 17. 60316 Police Station shares the oldest release date on the list with 60312 Police Car: Brick Fanatics dates both to January 1, 2022. lego.com showed a fixed ship date of October 24 for it on October 11, and Available now on October 15.

Analysis: what happened to the July 2026 City sets

Brick Fanatics' retiring page, last updated October 13, 2026, says "LEGO City has one of the longest lists of retiring LEGO sets". It puts 23 of the 25 badged sets in its "Retires December 31, 2026" group. Its July 31, 2026 group held six City sets, and on October 15 they looked like this on lego.com:

  • 60473 The City Tower: Retiring soon badge, Sold out.
  • 60440 Yellow Delivery Truck: Retiring soon badge, Available now at $99.99.
  • 60467 Heavy-Duty Recovery Tow Truck with Crane: Sold out at $89.99, no badge.
  • 60462 Helicopter, Fire Truck & Submarine Remix: Sold out, $59.99 list shown at $41.99, no badge.
  • 60368 Arctic Explorer Ship and 60452 Donut Truck: Retired Product.

The dates are estimates, and 60440 shows it. More than two months after its Brick Fanatics date, the Yellow Delivery Truck was still in stock on lego.com with the badge. The City Tower went the other way: badged, but with nothing to sell. In February a Eurobricks member, TeriXeri, had read the early date as a sign: "60473 The City Tower doesn't seem like a big hit with it's retirement already planned before August 2026." The same post noted "apparently the 2022 police station popular enough to warrant staying for at least 2026", and it is still on lego.com, now with the badge.

Our take

Based on the lego.com pages and the Brick Fanatics groups above, adult City fans had three sets to decide on before the holidays. 60470 Explorers' Arctic Polar Express Train is the priority: it is the only badged City set with a remote-controlled train, and it was on a 60-day back order on October 11, 15 and 17. 60445 F1 Truck is the pick for F1 fans and was Available now. 60423 Downtown Streetcar is the third. It read Sold out on October 17 after one day back in stock, so watch its page for a restock. We will re-check badges and stock every 14 days through December, and every other theme is in our LEGO sets retiring in 2026 list.

How we checked this

On October 11, 2026 we read all 12 pages of lego.com's Retiring soon list from the page data and opened the product pages of 60470, 60445, 60440 and 60473 and of the four other sets in Brick Fanatics' July 2026 City group, copying price, pieces, age, badges and stock. On October 15 we read all 11 pages of the list again, opened those eight product pages again plus 60423, 60407, 60465 and 60495, and re-read the review quotes on lego.com. On October 16 we read the 11 pages a third time and opened the product pages of 60423, 60464, 60465, 60495, 60407, 60473, 60467 and 60462. On October 17 we read the 11 pages again and opened the product pages of the six City sets that were off the list: 60423, 60473, 60465, 60464, 60407 and 60495. We read Brick Fanatics' retiring page (updated October 13; its City groups are the same as in the October 7 version) and matched every City set to its date group. Review quotes were copied from lego.com's Customer Reviews sections, and forum quotes from Eurobricks. Totals and cents per piece are our arithmetic, and a second pass compared every number with our source table.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which LEGO City sets are retiring in 2026? On October 17, 2026, 25 LEGO City sets showed lego.com's Retiring soon badge, from four $9.99 sets to 60470 Explorers' Arctic Polar Express Train at $209.99. 19 could still be ordered; six, including 60473 The City Tower and 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station, were Sold out or temporarily out of stock. lego.com gives no retirement dates, only the badge.

Is the LEGO City Arctic train 60470 retiring? Yes, the badge was on its page on October 15, 2026. It read $209.99 for 1,517 pieces, Will ship in 60 days on back order, limit 5. Brick Fanatics expects it to retire on December 31, 2026, a fan-site estimate. It runs by remote or the Powered Up app.

Is the LEGO City Tower 60473 retired? Not officially. On October 15, 2026 its lego.com page still carried the Retiring soon badge but read Sold out, at $209.99 for 1,941 pieces. Brick Fanatics had dated it to July 31, 2026, and a Eurobricks member noted in February that it was due to go early.

Is the LEGO City F1 Truck 60445 retiring? Yes. 60445 F1 Truck with RB20 & AMR24 F1 Cars showed Retiring soon on October 15, 2026, Available now at $99.99 for 1,086 pieces, limit 5. Brick Fanatics puts it in its December 31, 2026 group with the two smaller City F1 sets, 60464 and 60493.

Why is a LEGO City set still on sale after its retirement date? Because the dates are not LEGO's. Brick Fanatics listed 60440 Yellow Delivery Truck, which it calls LEGO Delivery Truck, for July 31, 2026, yet on October 15 it was still Available now on lego.com at $99.99 with the Retiring soon badge. Treat fan-site dates as estimates and check the product page.
