LEGO Technic sets retiring in 2026 come to 22 sets on lego.com, from a $9.99 Backhoe Loader to the $429.99 Volvo EC500 Hybrid Excavator. We read the Technic theme page and the main Retiring soon page on October 10, 2026, then opened the product page of every Technic set that Brick Fanatics lists for 2026. Only 12 of the 22 show up on the main Retiring soon page. The other ten are sold out or out of stock, and you only see their badge on the theme page or the product page.

TL;DR: 22 Technic sets carry lego.com's Retiring soon badge (Oct 10, 2026), $2,498.78 together at list price. Ten are Available now, including 42215 Volvo EC500 and 42202 Ducati Panigale V4 S. Nine are sold out, including 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 and 42154 2022 Ford GT. LEGO gives no dates.

LEGO Technic sets retiring in 2026: the quick answer

The 22 sets are 42154, 42170, 42171, 42173, 42175, 42176, 42177, 42179, 42180, 42197, 42198, 42199, 42200, 42201, 42202, 42203, 42204, 42205, 42208, 42209, 42215 and 42217. Five are marked 18+: 42215, 42177, 42171, 42202 and 42154. The adult sets still in stock on lego.com are the Volvo EC500 and the Ducati. The F1 car is temporarily out of stock, and the G 500 and Ford GT are sold out.

Key Takeaways

  • 22 sets, $2,498.78 together at US list price, 22,359 pieces (lego.com, Oct 10, 2026).
  • Ten Available now ($1,262.90 of the total), two on back order, one temporarily out of stock, nine sold out.
  • The main Retiring soon page shows only 12. The other ten are sold out or temporarily out of stock, and are flagged only on the theme page or on their own product pages.
  • 42215 Volvo EC500 is retiring: $429.99, 2,359 pieces, Available now, limit 5.
  • No official dates. Brick Fanatics' January table put 17 of the 22 on December 31, 2026. Its July 31 sets are now Retired Product or sold out.

Overview: how we built the list

lego.com does not publish a Technic retirement list, only a badge. On October 10, 2026 we read all 275 products on the Retiring soon page and kept the 12 filed under Technic. Then we read all 58 products on the Technic theme page. Twenty carried the badge: the same 12 plus eight sold-out or out-of-stock sets.

Last, we opened the product page of every Technic set in Brick Fanatics' January and September retirement tables. Two more had the badge and Sold out but were on neither lego.com listing: 42176 Porsche GT4 e-Performance Race Car and 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover. That makes 22. The same thing happened with Star Wars, where 75389 The Dark Falcon only showed its badge on its own page; see our LEGO Star Wars sets retiring in 2026 list.

One oddity: the 42180 page listed $149.99 as the list price but showed $89.99 next to the Sold out label. We used the list price.

The cheapest per piece is 42173 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut at about 6.2 cents. The dearest is 42176 Porsche GT4 at about 20.3 cents, just ahead of the Volvo EC500 at 18.2 cents.

The adult Technic sets

Five of the 22 carry lego.com's 18+ mark. Together they cost $1,219.95.

42215 Volvo EC500 Hybrid Excavator ($429.99, 2,359 pieces). The biggest and most expensive set on the list, and still Available now on October 10, with an order limit of 5. Per piece it is one of the dearest at 18.2 cents. Brick Fanatics' January table did not include it; its September update does, without a month.

42202 Ducati Panigale V4 S Motorcycle ($199.99, 1,603 pieces). Available now. Like the EC500, it is missing from the January table and appears in September's.

42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance ($219.99, 1,643 pieces). Temporarily out of stock, which is not the same label as Sold out. It still had the badge.

42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line ($249.99, 2,891 pieces). Sold out. At 8.6 cents a piece it was the second-best value of the five adult sets, after the Ford GT below, and it is gone from lego.com's main Retiring soon page.

42154 2022 Ford GT ($119.99, 1,468 pieces). Sold out, badge still on the product page.

If you want a Technic car under $100 that is not on its way out, the 42223 1966 Ford GT40 MKII Race Car is the Technic pick in our best LEGO sets for adults under $100 list.

Retirement dates: lego.com versus fan sites

lego.com shows a badge and nothing else. The dates you see online come from fan sites, mostly Brick Fanatics.

  • January 5, 2026 update: 18 Technic sets under "December 31, 2026" and eight under "July 31, 2026". Seventeen of our 22 are in the December group. The five that are not (42179, 42202, 42208, 42209, 42215) only appear in the later update.
  • September 5, 2026 update: 22 Technic sets "due to be retired later this year", with no month. It includes 42233 Mighty Machines, a $4.99 set released August 1, 2026 that lego.com marked New, not Retiring soon. It leaves out 42180, which lego.com does flag.
  • 42214 Lamborghini Revuelto was in the January December group, but on October 10 its lego.com page showed Temporarily out of stock and no badge.

The July group is a useful check on those dates. Of its eight sets, four (42130 BMW M 1000 RR, 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3, 42151 Bugatti Bolide, 42160 Audi RS Q e-tron) now read "Retired Product" on lego.com. The other four (42158, 42161, 42167, 42211) read Sold out with no badge.

On r/legotechnic, u/zomdarati wrote in July about buying the $449.99 Daytona SP3 before it went: "when I found out the ferrari was retiring in July, I pulled the triager and used my $340 worth of points and a gift card". A May thread listing 27 Technic retirements drew this from u/GamiNami:

"It's a lot of models. Will leave a gap with the 3 electric ones gone, andnsome other iconic ones like the Ford GT, Ferrari Daytona"

A reply from u/Aromatic_Student_221 asked the obvious follow-up: "Oof i think once these go, the non car sets will be what, three?"

Analysis: which to decide on first

The sets that can still disappear from lego.com are the ten marked Available now and the two on back order. The two big adult builds in that group are the Volvo EC500 at $429.99 and the Ducati at $199.99. Of the two Corvettes, 42205 was already Sold out while the blue 42217 was still Available now.

The sold-out nine are a different question. lego.com gave no restock date for any of them. A sold-out set with a Retiring soon badge may simply not come back, so other stores are the remaining option.

Our take

Based on the facts above, this list is about the Volvo EC500 and the Ducati. They are the only two 18+ Technic sets with the badge that lego.com could still sell you on October 10, 2026. The G 500, Ford GT and the Porsche GT4 had already sold out, and lego.com's main Retiring soon page does not show them. If one of those was on your list, the theme page is the place to check, not the Retiring soon page. We will re-check the badges and stock every 14 days through December.

How we checked this

On October 10, 2026 we read lego.com's Retiring soon page (275 products), the Technic theme page (58 products) and the product pages of all 22 badge sets, plus every other Technic set in Brick Fanatics' January and September tables, in a desktop browser. Prices, piece counts, age marks and stock labels come from each page's product data and are in our CSV. We compared that list with Brick Fanatics' January 5 and September 5 updates the same day. The Reddit quotes were copied from the thread data. Price per piece and totals are our arithmetic. Before publishing, a second pass compared every number in this article with our source table.
