LEGO Ideas Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 21360 with the candy garden, boat, black lamp posts and minifigures

LEGO Ideas sets retiring 2026 come to eight sets with lego.com's Retiring soon badge, from the $399.99 Grand Piano to the $79.99 Polaroid OneStep SX-70. We opened each product page on October 10, 2026. Unlike Icons or Technic, none of the eight was sold out that day: seven were Available now and one was on back order. One of them is easy to miss, because lego.com's own Retiring soon page files it under Disney.

TL;DR: Eight Ideas sets have the Retiring soon badge (lego.com, October 10, 2026), $1,809.92 together. Seven are Available now; 21355 The Evolution of STEM is on back order. Best value per piece: 21333 The Starry Night (7.3 cents) and 21356 River Steamboat (8.1 cents). Brick Fanatics lists all eight as still scheduled to retire by December 31, 2026.

LEGO Ideas sets retiring 2026: the quick answer

All are 18+.

Key Takeaways

  • 8 Ideas sets, $1,809.92 together at US list price, 19,473 pieces (lego.com, October 10, 2026).
  • 7 Available now, 1 on back order, none sold out. Order limits run from 2 to 5.

  • Dearest per piece: 21345 Polaroid ($0.155), then the Grand Piano and Willy Wonka at about 11 cents.
  • 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas is filed under Disney on the Retiring soon page but under Ideas on its own page.

Overview: how we built the list

On October 10, 2026 the LEGO Ideas theme page listed 29 products. We opened the product page of every Ideas set with the badge, and of every Ideas set in Brick Fanatics' October 2, 2026 retiring update. A set counts here only if its own product page showed Retiring soon.

Our main LEGO sets retiring in 2026 list counted seven Ideas sets from the Retiring soon page the same day. The eighth is 21351: the Retiring soon page files it under Disney, but its product page reads "Ideas #21351". It is one more reason the product page beats a filtered list; our guide on how to tell if a LEGO set is retiring walks through the other traps.

The big three: Grand Piano, Botanical Garden, River Steamboat

21323 Grand Piano ($399.99, 3,662 pieces). The oldest set here, released August 1, 2020, and the most expensive. Available now with a limit of 2, the tightest limit among the seven in stock.

21353 The Botanical Garden ($329.99, 3,792 pieces, 12 minifigures). Available now, limit 5. Its product page credits "Fan designer Valentina Bima" and showed an average of 4.8 stars from 170 reviews.

21356 River Steamboat ($329.99, 4,090 pieces). The largest set on this list by piece count and the second-cheapest per piece at 8.1 cents. Brick Fanatics dates its release to April 7, 2025.

The other five

21360 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory ($219.99, 2,025 pieces, 9 minifigures). Available now, limit 3. Brick Fanatics picked it, "and especially 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas", as the Ideas sets to get this month.

21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas ($199.99, 2,193 pieces, 6 minifigures). Available now, limit 5, and the one filed under Disney on the Retiring soon page.

21333 The Starry Night ($169.99, 2,316 pieces). The best value per piece on the list. Its page quotes "LEGO Fan designer Truman Cheng".

21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera ($79.99, 516 pieces). Tied with The Evolution of STEM as the cheapest in dollars, and the dearest per piece.

21355 The Evolution of STEM ($79.99, 879 pieces). The only one not in stock: "Will ship in 60 days", Backorder, limit 2.

What builders are saying about Willy Wonka

The Willy Wonka set is the one Reddit argued about. In a December 2025 r/lego thread, "Why has Willy Wonka not done as well do you think?", the highest-scored reply in the thread data, from u/Mean-Proposal-5577, was blunt: "Because it's too damn expensive." u/bmg0404 had a different complaint:

"It feels bland. Like that set feels like a terrain parts pack more than Willy Wonkas factory."

u/Jarfulous put it more kindly: "I like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I like it a lot! But like, it's not something I feel the need to display in my home." Those are opinions from one thread. What we can add from lego.com is that on October 10, 2026, ten months after that thread, the set was still Available now at $219.99.

Analysis: which to decide on first

With nothing sold out, the Ideas list is less urgent than Icons, where two badged sets had already sold out by October 10. The two that need a decision soonest are the ones with stock signals: 21355 The Evolution of STEM, which is already on back order, and the Grand Piano, with the lowest order limit. For value, The Starry Night and River Steamboat stand out, both at about 7 to 8 cents a piece.

Brick Fanatics' October 2 update says all eight are "still scheduled to be retired by December 31, 2026". That is a fan-site reading, not LEGO's.

Our take

Based on the lego.com pages above, the Ideas retirements are the easiest of 2026 to act on calmly: all eight could still be ordered on October 10, seven for delivery now. If you want one of the big builds, The Starry Night and the River Steamboat give the most set for the money, and the Grand Piano is the one with the tightest order limit. The Evolution of STEM is the only one already on back order. We will re-check the badges and stock every 14 days through December.

How we checked this

On October 10, 2026 we read lego.com's Ideas theme page (29 products) and opened the product pages of all eight sets in a desktop browser, copying price, pieces, minifigure count, badges, stock label, order limit and the fan designer credits. We compared them with lego.com's Retiring soon page from the same day, where 21351 is filed under Disney, and with Brick Fanatics' October 2 update for release dates. The Reddit comments were copied from the thread data. Totals and price per piece are our arithmetic. A second pass compared every number here with our source table.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which LEGO Ideas sets are retiring in 2026? Eight LEGO Ideas sets had the Retiring soon badge on lego.com on October 10, 2026: 21323 Grand Piano, 21333 The Starry Night, 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70, 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas, 21353 The Botanical Garden, 21355 The Evolution of STEM, 21356 River Steamboat and 21360 Willy Wonka.

Is the LEGO Starry Night 21333 retiring? Yes. 21333 Vincent van Gogh - The Starry Night showed the Retiring soon badge on October 10, 2026, at $169.99 for 2,316 pieces, Available now with a limit of 5. It is the cheapest Ideas set per piece on the list at about 7.3 cents. LEGO gives no date.

Are any retiring LEGO Ideas sets sold out? Not on October 10, 2026. Seven of the eight were Available now. 21355 The Evolution of STEM ($79.99) was on back order with the label Will ship in 60 days, and a limit of 2 per order.

When do LEGO Ideas sets retire in 2026? LEGO does not publish dates. Brick Fanatics' October 2, 2026 update lists all eight Ideas sets as still scheduled to be retired by December 31, 2026. That is a fan-site reading of the badge, and fan-site dates have moved before.

Why is The Nightmare Before Christmas missing from some retiring lists? lego.com's Retiring soon page filed 21351 under Disney on October 10, 2026, while its own product page lists it under Ideas. A theme filter on the Retiring soon page therefore showed seven Ideas sets instead of eight. The 21351 page had the badge and Available now.
