Overview: the 24 Friends sets with the badge

lego.com marks a set with a Retiring soon badge and lists it on its Retiring soon page, which held 250 products on October 17. We read all 11 pages from the page data, every product included, and found 22 Friends sets, down from 23 in our October 10 and October 11 reads. The two missing ones, 42642 Friendship Movie Night and 42677 Dog Treats Bakery, showed the badge and Sold out on their own product pages, so they are in the table.

Prices are lego.com US list prices, the same on October 11, 15, 16 and 17. On October 17, 42664 ($52.49) and 42685 ($34.99) were 30 percent off. Both Sold out sets showed a lower price. Stock is as of October 17; cents per piece is our arithmetic on list price. The 22 sets you could order come to $1,064.78 at list price. The best value per piece is 42663 Friendship Camper Van Adventure at 7.7 cents, Available now on October 17.

The three big LEGO Friends sets retiring in 2026

42673 Family Vacation Beach Resort ($129.99, 1,140 pieces, 8+) is the most expensive. 42671 Plant Café & Flower Shop ($99.99, 1,138 pieces, 9+) is the best value of the three at 8.8 cents a piece. 42674 Comic Book and Game Store ($99.99, 1,005 pieces, 9+) is the only Friends set on the list that is also a lego.com Exclusive. Brick Fanatics dates all three to a June 1, 2025 release and a December 31, 2026 retirement, and calls two of them by slightly different names: Family Holiday Beach Resort and Comic Book and Game Shop.

Every lego.com review we quote below is marked "Received complimentary product from the LEGO System A/S", meaning the reviewer got the set free from LEGO. With that caveat, they say a lot about build time. On the Plant Café (4.9 stars from 22 reviews), susannakelly_951 wrote that it "is just over 1100 pieces and would take the average person 6 hours to construct." fundaz_209 built it with a niece: "I built this with my 11 years old niece and this is 9+. It took us 1 week to build it".

On the Beach Resort (4.8 stars from 19 reviews), debrap18_5196 described building it with grandchildren: "It’s easy enough for the kids to build, but still exciting for us adults". And on the Comic Book and Game Store (4.8 stars from 28), arnelllee1_8869 wrote: "I love the LEGO Friends kit and I can’t wait to build it with my 9 year old niece!"

LEGO's own parents' guide says "LEGO Friends sets are typically aimed at kids aged 6-9, though kids as young as four and older kids also enjoy them." Every badged set in our table is marked 4+ to 9+.

Analysis: what happened to the July 2026 Friends sets

Brick Fanatics' retiring page, last updated October 13, 2026, put six Friends sets in its "Retires July 31, 2026" group. On October 11 and again on October 15 we opened all six on lego.com:

• 42653 Music Store & Apartment: Retiring soon badge, Available now at $49.99.
• 42642 Friendship Movie Night: Retiring soon badge, Sold out, $14.99 list shown at $11.99.
• 42658 Unicorn & Flamingo Pool Party: Sold out, $9.99 list shown at $7.99, no badge.
• 42670 Heartlake City Apartments and Stores (12+, 2,040 pieces), 42647 Paisley's Room and 42654 Pony Ranch & Stable: Retired Product.

The biggest loss for older builders is 42670: at 2,040 pieces and 12+, it was larger than any Friends set left on the list, and it was already retired. 42653 shows the other side. Two months after its fan-site date, it was still in stock with the badge. The dates are estimates; the product page is what counts.

Some of these sets are less than a year old. 42689 Heartlake City Friends Club House ($89.99, 794 pieces) is one of nine badged Friends sets that Brick Fanatics dates to a January 1, 2026 release, and lego.com's 2026 Friends page describes it as "action-packed and ready for play, with a zip line, slide and climbing wall". The oldest badged Friends sets, such as 42663 Friendship Camper Van Adventure, date from January 1, 2025.

Our take

Based on the lego.com pages and the Brick Fanatics groups above, if a Friends set is on your holiday list, the three big buildings are the ones to buy first: the Beach Resort, the Plant Café and the Comic Book and Game Store were all Available now on October 11 and October 17. The Plant Café is the best value of the three per piece. For a smaller gift, check stock before you count on a date: on October 17 three sets read Will ship in 60 days, and 42677 Dog Treats Bakery, Available now on October 11, read Sold out. If you wanted 42670 Heartlake City Apartments and Stores, lego.com no longer sells it. We will re-check badges and stock every 14 days through December, and every other theme is in our LEGO sets retiring in 2026 list.

How we checked this

On October 11, 2026 we read all 12 pages of lego.com's Retiring soon list from the page data and opened the product pages of 42653, 42642 and the four other sets in Brick Fanatics' July 2026 Friends group, plus the Customer Reviews sections of 42671, 42673 and 42674. We read Brick Fanatics' retiring page (updated October 7) and matched every Friends set to its date group, and LEGO's Friends parents' guide. On October 15 we read all 11 pages of the list again. We opened the 42677 page and the five July sets off the list, and re-read the three review sections and both lego.com Friends articles. Brick Fanatics' page, updated October 13, had the same Friends groups. On October 16 and again on October 17 we read the 11 pages of the list and opened the 42677 and 42642 pages. Totals and cents per piece are our arithmetic, and a second pass compared every number with our source table.
