LEGO Themes 2026: Which Ones Are Built for Adults?

TL;DR: Start with Icons, Ideas, Art or Botanicals; in Star Wars and Technic, filter by 18+ first. 211 of 520 sets we track are 18+. Icons has 45 of them. City and Friends have none, and most of their sets carry the Retiring soon badge.

LEGO themes for adults in 2026: every Icons, Ideas, Art and Pokémon display set we track is 18+, Star Wars about half. 18 themes by 18+ share, Oct 25.

lego.com lists 47 LEGO themes, but for an adult buyer only about a dozen matter, and the 18+ label does most of the sorting. In our lego.com catalog read, every Icons, Ideas and Art set is marked 18+, while Star Wars is split almost down the middle.

What changed since Oct 10

  • 2 Star Wars 18+ sets gained the Retiring soon badge on Oct 13: 75382 TIE Interceptor and 75397 Jabba's Sail Barge, which read Sold out the same day.
  • 36 sets went Sold out in our reads between Oct 10 and Oct 25, some more than once. NINJAGO and City lost the most, 5 sets each.
  • 3 adult-theme sets went Sold out: 21323 Grand Piano and 21360 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory on Oct 13, and 10340 Wreath on Oct 16.
  • 21065 Sagrada Família, the biggest LEGO set by pieces, is dated to November 1 on lego.com.

LEGO themes: the quick answer

LEGO's US themes page lists 47 themes. The ones built for adults are Icons, Ideas, Art, Architecture and Botanicals, where nearly every set is 18+. Star Wars, Technic, Harry Potter, Marvel and Pokémon sell both adult display sets and children's sets, so the 18+ mark matters more than the theme name.

Key Takeaways

  • 47 themes on lego.com's US themes page.
  • 211 of 520 sets in our lego.com catalog are marked 18+.
  • Icons: 45 sets, all 18+, $69.99 to $679.99.
  • Star Wars: 22 of 40 sets 18+.
  • City and Friends: 0 sets 18+, 47 of 67 badged Retiring soon.
  • Cheapest per piece among adult themes: Art, 7.6 cents median.

Overview: how lego.com sorts its themes

lego.com labels every set with a theme (Icons, Star Wars, City) and an age mark (4+, 10+, 18+). Its Adults Welcome page gathers the 18+ sets across themes and calls them "premium LEGO® sets designed specifically for adults". The theme name alone tells you little: Star Wars has a $12.99 children's set and a $999.99 Death Star.

LEGO itself ranks its themes by sales. In its 2025 annual results, published in March, it said: "Among the most popular themes were LEGO® City, LEGO® Technic™, LEGO® Star Wars™, LEGO® Icons and LEGO® Botanicals". For the first half of 2026 it named "LEGO® Speed Champions, LEGO® Botanicals, LEGO® Technic™, LEGO® Icons and LEGO® Star Wars™" among its bestsellers. Brick Fanatics noted the adult tilt of that list: "Icons is comprised solely of 18+ models".

If you shop by age mark instead of theme, lego.com's Adults Welcome list does the filtering for you: it held 223 products on Oct 25. The catch is that it mixes every theme, so a Botanicals bouquet sits next to a $999.99 Death Star. Reading it by theme, as below, shows where the adult sets cluster and where they are the exception.

We built the table below from our own catalog, which reads lego.com's Adults Welcome, New, Coming soon and Retiring soon lists. It covers every 18+ set, but not every children's set: a kids' set that is not new, not coming and not badged is not in it. So the 18+ counts are complete, and the totals for children's themes are lower than lego.com's.

Status on Oct 25: 520 sets, 211 of them 18+. Pokémon's 7 are its display models; its children's SMART Play sets are not on the lists we read.

The split is sharp. Five themes are adult by design (Icons, Ideas, Art, Architecture, Botanicals), four are children's themes with no 18+ set at all in our data (City, Friends, NINJAGO, Minecraft), and the big licences sit in between.

LEGO themes for adults, one by one

Icons

The biggest adult theme: 45 sets, all 18+, from $69.99 to the $679.99 Titanic. It holds the Eiffel Tower (10,001 pieces), the modular buildings, the book nooks, Rivendell and Barad-dûr; Minas Tirith sits in a separate Lord of the Rings theme on lego.com. Seven carried the Retiring soon badge on Oct 25.

Our guides to the modular buildings, book nooks and Lord of the Rings sets are listed below, and our LEGO Icons sets retiring list tracks the badged ones.

Ideas

28 sets, all 18+. The range runs from $49.99 to $399.99, and the biggest is 21373 Downton Abbey at 4,711 pieces. Seven are badged.

Art and Architecture

The two cheapest adult themes per piece: Art at a 7.6 cent median, Architecture at 8.1. Art includes wall pieces such as 31212 The Milky Way Galaxy; Architecture runs from $79.99 to the $799.99 Sagrada Família, the biggest LEGO set by pieces. None of the 9 Architecture sets was badged on Oct 25; our LEGO Architecture sets comparison has each one with its stock line.

Botanicals

25 of 27 sets are 18+, and the range tops out at $109.99, the lowest ceiling of any adult theme. LEGO named Botanicals among its most popular themes in both its 2025 and first-half 2026 results. Our Botanicals guide below compares all of them.

Star Wars

The theme you most need to filter: 22 of 40 sets are 18+, and its median per piece, 12.4 cents, is among the highest of the big themes. The 18+ side runs from $39.99 busts to the $999.99 Death Star. Fifteen sets were badged on Oct 25. Our Star Wars guide below rates the 18+ sets by buyer score.

Technic

14 of 29 sets are 18+, including the big F1 cars. The rest are marked for younger builders. Fifteen are badged, as many as Star Wars. Our F1 guide below covers the Technic, Icons and Speed Champions F1 cars together, and our LEGO Technic sets retiring list the badged ones.

Harry Potter and Marvel

Both licences are mostly children's sets with a few adult flagships. Harry Potter has 6 of 15 sets at 18+ (plus the 16+ Hogwarts Castle, 6,020 pieces); Marvel has 9 of 20, topped by the $499.99 Avengers Tower. Our Harry Potter guide below compares the adult ones.

Pokémon

All 7 display models are 18+, from a $59.99 Eevee to the $649.99 Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, and none was badged. Its children's SMART Play line sits beside it. Our Pokémon guide below ranks all of them.

Editions and other licences

LEGO Editions is lego.com's line of sports and racing sets, "our exclusive new collection celebrating our favorite icons from the worlds of football and motorsport". It holds the F1 helmets and the Nike sneakers, marked 10+ to 14+ rather than 18+. Smaller licences such as Star Trek and Stranger Things have their own guides below.

Desk note: in our Oct 25 catalog read, 47 of the 67 City and Friends sets carried the Retiring soon badge, 70 percent. In the five adult-by-design themes (Icons, Ideas, Art, Architecture, Botanicals), it was 20 of 117, 17 percent. The badge falls hardest on children's sets.

Theme Guides

Analysis: choosing a theme as an adult

The community advice is the same as ours: pick a theme, then the 18+ sets within it. In an r/AFOL thread about becoming an adult fan, u/BraveArse wrote: "Most AFOLs tend to lean into one theme or a few." Another reply, from u/Jessica_Two, described a path many adult buyers will recognise: "For myself, I decided that I was going to be into the botanicals."

Two numbers decide most choices. Price per piece separates the themes: Art and Architecture sit near 8 cents, Star Wars and Marvel above 12. Budget does the rest: Botanicals tops out at $109.99, while Icons runs to $679.99.

The badge is the signal; the date is a guess. City and Friends carry the badge most often, so a set from those themes you want for a child is the one to buy first. The adult themes move slower: Architecture had no badged set at all on Oct 25.

Our take

Pick Icons or Botanicals for your first adult set; in Star Wars, buy only the 18+ sets. Icons has 45 sets, all 18+. Botanicals tops out at $109.99.

Buy now if a badged set in your theme reads Available now; City and Friends carry the badge most often. Skip or wait if you want an Architecture or Pokémon display set: none carried the badge on Oct 25.

What we don't know yet: which sets LEGO adds in the January 2027 wave and whether new themes join the 18+ range. On our watchlist: we re-read lego.com's lists at each catalog fetch and update this table with every pillar check.
