With the LEGO Beauty and the Beast Castle retiring, the surprise is that you can still order it, while the $80 cheaper Nightmare Before Christmas has sold out. lego.com shows the castle's badge next to Available now. The decision is whether to buy at full price now or wait for a holiday deal that has not appeared in our reads.

Key Takeaways

  • Retiring soon badge, plus Exclusives, on the 43263 product page. Price $279.99, limit 5.
  • Available now in 13 of 13 reads by our lego.com tracker, Oct 10 to Oct 25. Never discounted.
  • 2,916 pieces, 10 minifigures, 18+, about 9.6 cents a piece; 1,820 Insiders points.
  • No LEGO date. Brick Fanatics files it under a December 31 date.
  • 4.7 stars from 99 reviews on lego.com.

What Happened: the LEGO Beauty and the Beast Castle retiring badge

The 43263 product page shows two labels above the name: Exclusives and Retiring soon. Below the $279.99 price it read "Available now" and "Limit 5" on October 25. lego.com explains the Exclusives label in its own words: the set is "available only at LEGO.com, in LEGO® Stores, and through selected retailers, before they are available anywhere else".

The badge gives no date, and LEGO has not published one. Brick Fanatics' retiring list, last updated October 13, files 43263 under "Retires December 31, 2026", with a release date in April 2025. That would be under two years on sale. It is a fan-site date, the same one it gives most of the LEGO Disney sets retiring in 2026.

The set: four levels and a spinning ballroom floor

LEGO's newsroom revealed the castle in March 2025 as "The latest in the Disney Castle range". It described "four-detailed levels with multiple rooms, including a ballroom with a spinning floor". LEGO Insiders could buy it from April 1 and everyone from April 4, at $279.99. Eighteen months on, the US price is the same.

The designer was Ryan Van Woerkom. Blocks magazine, which interviewed him, wrote that the "Senior Model Designer Ryan Van Woerkom relished the challenge of building this 18+, 2,916 piece model for Disney fans".

The product page lists the ten characters "from left to right: Maurice, Belle, Cogsworth, Chip and Mrs. Potts, Lumière, Fifi, the enchanted rose in a case, the Beast, Gaston and LeFou". It also invites you to "Recreate Belle and Beast's memorable dance scene on the spinning floor."

Desk note: Our lego.com tracker read 43263 on 13 days between Oct 10 and Oct 25. All 13 said Available now, all at $279.99, none with a discount. Between Oct 13 and Oct 19 the points line showed 3,640 Insiders points instead of 1,820, LEGO's double points week. Points, not price cuts, were the only deal.

Why It Matters: 43263 against the other 18+ Disney sets

Badges alone do not tell you how long you have. Here are the 18+ Disney sets on the Disney theme page with more than 2,000 pieces, from our lego.com catalog fetch of October 25.

21351 shows what can happen. It had the same badge and was Available now on Oct 10 and Oct 11, then read Sold out from Oct 13 onward. Our LEGO Ideas sets retiring list covers it with the other Ideas sets. Sold out sets rarely stay back for long: our study of whether sold out LEGO sets come back found six of 35 returned in October, each for one to three days.

Main Street, U.S.A. is the biggest set in the table, and it has no badge. It costs $120 more and is dearer per piece. If you want a castle in particular, 43263 is the one on the shelf now.

What builders are saying

On lego.com the castle had 4.7 stars from 99 reviews on Oct 25. DuchessSpectacularPeach, five stars in January 2026, wrote: "This set is absolutely amazing." The same review adds a small warning: "The candelabras in the ballroom and the gargoyles are a bit fiddly, but apart from that, this build is strong, fun and satisfying."

Lullabelle, five stars in July 2025, was a near-beginner whose only earlier set was the Up House: "The detailed instructions made this so simple to build it was great." The most critical of the reviews we quote, from Brick by Brick UK (four stars, May 2025), liked that "the storeys are built in a way so they can be removed easily to access play features", but found "too many studs holding it together meaning it tends to fall apart while you try to remove them."

On how long a badged set lasts, a reply with 307 upvotes in a September r/lego thread about retirements is blunt, and it fits the 21351 story above:

Reddit comment saying LEGO retirement dates are guesses and stock can run out sooner

Reddit, r/lego · · Open the thread

"Retirement dates are just darts on a board. If the stock ran out sooner then that's that," u/A_Pointy_Rock wrote. For 43263 the stock has not run out yet.

Our take

Buy 43263 at $279.99 now if it is on your list; do not wait for a discount. In 13 lego.com reads it never dropped below list price, and the only deal was double points. Its badged 18+ sibling, 21351, went from Available now to Sold out within two days.

Buy now if you want a Disney castle under $300 before the holidays; the 1,820 points it earns make two $5 rewards with 520 points left over, by our Insiders points value arithmetic. Skip or wait if you would rather have a Disney set that is staying: Main Street, U.S.A. has no badge.

What we don't know yet: whether LEGO puts 43263 on sale around Insiders Weekend or Black Friday, and whether stock lasts to December 31. On our watchlist: we re-read the 43263 page with every catalog fetch and log any change on our change log.

This take uses only the lego.com data and sources cited above, checked Oct 25.

How we checked this

On Oct 25 we read the 43263 product page in a desktop browser for labels, price, stock, limit, pieces, points and reviews, and took the 21351, 43302 and 10365 rows from our lego.com catalog fetch of the same day. Earlier labels, prices and points come from our tracker's 13 reads since Oct 10. The minifigure line-up and the Brick by Brick UK review were read on the product page on October 11 and 14. We read LEGO's March 2025 newsroom post, the Blocks magazine designer interview and Brick Fanatics' retiring list (updated October 13). Cents per piece is our arithmetic. A second pass compared every number with our source table. We haven't built this set.
