LEGO Super Mario Sets Retiring 2026: The Interactive Figures

LEGO Super Mario sets retiring 2026 come down to one thing: the interactive figures. lego.com names four sets that contain an interactive Mario, Luigi or Peach, and on October 22, 2026 all four had the Retiring soon badge. Two more sets that work with those figures have it too. LEGO has not said the figures are ending, but from January 1, 2027 its new Super Mario sets use minifigures instead.

LEGO Super Mario sets retiring 2026: the quick answer

Six sets, $254.94 together at list price. Four of them sit on lego.com's Super Mario theme page, which listed 21 products on October 22, 2026. The other two, 71439 Adventures with Interactive LEGO Mario and 72045 Shy Guy & P-Wing, no longer appear there but show the badge on their own pages, Sold out. Our Super Mario theme hub groups the theme's sets by status.

Key Takeaways

• Every figure set lego.com names has the badge: 71439 (Mario), 71440 (Luigi), 71441 (Peach) and 72043 (Mario with a kart).
• One way left to buy an interactive Mario: 72043 at $54.99; 71439 Adventures with Interactive LEGO Mario was Sold out.
• 4 of the 6 are Available now: 71440, 71441, 72041 and 72043.
• Most of last July's group is sold out or retired: of 14 sets Brick Fanatics dated to July 31, 2026, only 72041 was still for sale.
• Adults can relax: none of the five 18+ Super Mario sets on the theme page had the badge.

Overview: the 6 Super Mario sets with the badge

We read the Super Mario theme page from its page data on October 11, 2026 and opened every flagged product page, copying price, pieces, age mark, rating and stock from the visible page. On Oct 22 we read all six pages again; nothing in the table had changed.

Prices are lego.com US list prices, the same on October 11 and Oct 22; 71439 showed a 30 percent lower price but could not be ordered. Cents per piece is our arithmetic at list price. The four sets you could order had a limit of 5 per order.

Why the interactive figures matter

LEGO launched the theme as an interactive system. Its August 26, 2026 newsroom post recalls "launching the first interactive LEGO Super Mario building experiences in 2020". The other sets use a figure for their interactive features. lego.com's own description of 72041 Party at Toad's House says to add a Mario, Luigi or Peach figure "from sets 71439, 71440, 71441 or 72043" for "digital interactive play". The Shy Guy & P-Wing page names the same four sets.

Those four are the figure sets lego.com's own descriptions point to, and all four carry the badge. Of them, only 72043 Interactive LEGO Mario & Standard Kart still had Mario in stock on Oct 22, after three days on a back order that read Will ship by October 31, 2026. lego.com describes it as a kart set where you "Drive the Standard Kart with LEGO Mario to trigger Mario Kart sounds and visual effects". It has the lowest rating of the six badged sets, 4.5 stars from 16 reviews. Kali-z2ich, who bought it, wrote on August 31, 2025: "The only issue I have is with the Mario being not being loud enough."

The Luigi and Peach courses are the other two. jelisah, who received the Luigi set free from LEGO, wrote: "The Luigi is interactive with the set , the app you download and even with you!!" (spacing as on lego.com).

What replaces them in January 2027

LEGO's newsroom says the new sets "mark a refreshed LEGO Super Mario theme, newly centred on creative LEGO minifigure roleplay action", and that they "will be available via LEGO.com, LEGO stores and from select leading retailers around the world from January 1st, 2027." Brick Fanatics wrote the same day that the theme "was teased to be moving away from its interactive electronic figures in favour of more familiar minifigures".

On Oct 22, lego.com showed eight Super Mario sets as Coming soon on January 1, 2027, from the $9.99 72052 Mario's Pipe Jump to the $99.99 72060 Fire Mario & Bowser's Castle, $304.92 together. Two are marked 4+: 72056 Luigi & Bowser Jr.'s Race and 72057 Yoshi at Mario's House. Our January 2027 preview has the full list with prices.

Analysis: what happened to the July group

Brick Fanatics' retiring page, last updated October 13, 2026, lists 14 Super Mario sets under July 31, 2026. On October 11 we opened all 14 on lego.com. Only 72041 Party at Toad's House was still for sale, with the badge. Eight read Sold out, among them 71439 (badged) and the two 18+ sets in the group, 71438 Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi and 71426 Piranha Plant (no badge). Five read Retired Product: 72031 Yoshi Bike, 72034 Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi, 72035 Toad's Garage, 72039 Bowser's Castle and 72042 Prince Florian & Castle Bowser. Our LEGO DREAMZzz retiring list found one July-dated set still on sale there too: fan-site dates are a guide, not a promise of stock.

Toad's House is the exception, and a good one. renren1127_124, who received it free from LEGO, wrote that "Even as an adult, it was a great group activity that lasted hours."

For adults, the picture is calm. The four 18+ Super Mario sets you could order, 72051 Donkey Kong Arcade ($199.99), 72050 Mario Kart: Luigi & Mach 8 ($179.99), 72037 Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart ($169.99) and 72046 Game Boy ($59.99), had no badge on Oct 22, per the theme page data. The Donkey Kong Arcade had moved to a 60-day back order.

Our take

Based on the lego.com pages and the newsroom post above, buy an interactive figure set now if a child already owns Super Mario expansion sets or wants them: lego.com's own descriptions point to no other figure set, and the 2027 sets are minifigure sets. 72043 is the pick because it was the only one with Mario himself you could order, even though one buyer found the figure too quiet. If the child is new to the theme, wait for the January 2027 sets, which start at $9.99 and include two 4+ sets. Adult collectors of the 18+ sets have no badge to react to yet. We will re-check badges and stock every 14 days through December.

How we checked this

On October 11, 2026 we read lego.com's Super Mario theme page and Coming soon page from their page data, then opened the product pages of the six badged sets, 72037 and all 14 sets in Brick Fanatics' July 31, 2026 Super Mario group, copying price, pieces, age mark, rating, stock and badges from the visible page and the compatibility notes from each description. We opened the Customer Reviews of 71440, 71441, 72041, 72043 and 72045 and copied quotes with name, date and whether the reviewer received the set free. We read LEGO's August 26, 2026 newsroom post, Brick Fanatics' report from the same day and its retiring page. On October 22 we read the theme page, the Coming soon list and the six badged product pages again, found each quoted review still on lego.com, and re-read the retiring page (updated October 13; no Super Mario date had changed). Totals and cents per piece are our arithmetic, and a second pass compared every number with our source table.
